Mr. Martino is the father of the Kamloops Secondary School athletlc tradition of the '60s and '70s. He is widely recognized and respected by all athletic adminlstrators throughout the Province as a builder and a motivator. Many of his ideas and methods were adopted by schools throughout our province, and this had a direct effect on the quality of the programs we enjoy today. As a teacher and a coach, Mr. Martino
is a master motivator, establishing Kam High as a perennially competitive Basketball school provincially, while providing a wide range of athletic opportunity for all students within the school. Mr. Martino also pioneered the expansion of Community Recreation programs into lifetime sport actIvities.

Jack Buckham (class of 1961), BSc. From Seattle pacific College, received the Kamloops Secondary School Student’s Council 1998 Award for Teaching “Honour, Pride and Respect” while providing outstanding service to athletes and students. In 2000 Jack was selected as the Kamloops Sport Person of the Year. Jack received these prestigious awards for over three decades of devoted service to students, athletics, his colleagues, community and province.
